Early Settler Of Clare County Laid At Rest Here Last Monday Afternoon
Effie A. Blystone, passed away February 10, 1950, at the home of her daughter, Aura Carncross, of Sheridan township. She was eighty years, one month and nine days old at the time of her passing.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock Monday, February 13, from the Eagle Church of God, with Rev. M. R. Honderich officiating. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Norman, Norris and Ronald Blystone, and Everett, Leonard and Wayne Carncross. Mrs. Ernest Kleiner and Mrs. Herman Rank sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “My Ivory Palace Home”, accompanied by Mrs. Norman Hutchinson on the piano. Interment was made in Cherry Grove Cemetery at Clare.
Effie A. Kniffen was born the daughter of Urr and Louisa Kniffen, in Montcalm county, Michigan, January 1, 1870.
She was united in marriage on August 17, 1889, to Orson M. Blystone, who preceded her in death twenty-seven years ago in 1923. The Blystones moved to Clare county in 1898.
This marriage was blessed with four children, now Aura E. Carncross, of Sheridan township, Glen O. of Arthur township, Judd F., of Ann Arbor, and one daughter, who died in infancy.
In addition to her children, she is survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and, nephews.
She gave her heart to the Lord in early life and was a faithful member of the Eagle Church of God. She was a kindly person and a good neighbor, and her departure will he mourned by her relatives and many friends.
Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Judd F. Blystone, of Ann Arbor; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Blystone, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith and Vida Smith of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schneider, of Ann Arbor; Mrs. Iva Stellon and daughters, of Alma; and Ronald Blystone of Yipsilanti.
