From Funeral Card, March 31, 2004

Daniel, at age 85, died at 7:35 pm in the evening at Community South Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in beautiful Brown County, he was the son of Artie Virgil "Dutch" Fleener and Amanda Belle (Fleener). He married Joan (Long) Fleener in September 1945.

Dan enjoyed being outdoors because of his love of nature and gardening. Dan has nurtured a pink peony that belonged to his mother throughout his lifetime and has now passed on his love of flowers to his children who will oversee its care. As Daniel passed on to go home this week, the peony sprouted new life in his yard under his kitchen window where he lovingly watched over it. Yellow mums were also a great favorite of his.

Daniel has always been proud of his six children, two sons and four daughters and was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
