Inventor. Born Anton Tiberius Kliegl in Bavaria, he migrated with his brother John to America and took jobs with a stage lighting company in New York. In 1896, they launched the Kliegl Brothers Universal Electric Stage Lighting Company to sell theatrical equipment and started designing many innovative scenic effects for the stage and the new motion picture industry. Their greatest impact on the cinematic world was a bright carbon arc lamp that allowed directors to make night appear to be day, known as the high-intensity Klieg light. His invention was soon used on many film classics, including "Ben Hur", "The Wizard of Oz" and most Hollywood movie special effects.
