SAVANNAH - Donald Temke Wahl was born in Boswell, PA, on March 22, 1919. He studied piano from an early age, and by age 12 had begun giving performances over the radio in his region.

During WW II he served in the Army, serving in England, France, Belguim, and Germany.

Donald Whal died shortly after midnight March 5, 2008under the care of Hospice of Savannah. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Joyce Browning Wahl and his son, Brian Donald Wahl.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 8th at 2 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, or Hospice Savannah would be appreciated.

Mr. Wahl was a very accomplished piano player and was active in his piano as well as his church.

Donald Temke Wahl - SAVANNAH - Donald Temke Wahl was born in Boswell, PA, on March 22, 1919. He studied the piano from an early age, and by age 12 had begun giving performances over the radio in his region. He continued his musical studies at Catawba College, located in Salisbury, NC, and received a Bachelor of Science in applied Music and Music Education while also lettering in Track & Field. He was a classical pianist. While in college he gave perfomances in various venues throughout the area. During his last two years of college he received an organ scholarship from the Presser Music Co. Upon his return to Pennsylvania he continued to give recitals and perform in concerts, and also received a teaching certificate. During WWII he served in the Army, serving in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. After the war he worked for the S.S. Kresge Co., which became the Kmart Corporation, and retired after 37 years of service. His work took him to Kentucky, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, and to Savannah, GA, where he chose to retire. Throughout his career he donated his services as a pianist to the churches he attended. After his retirement he took a more active role in the church. He was a 25 year member of Memorial Baptist Church (affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship) serving as a Sunday School teacher, visiting the sick, preparing Wednesday Night suppers, and making visitations to those interested in joining the church.
