Born Aloisia Katharina in Maxberg, Taus, Bohemia (Maxov, Domažlice, Czech Republic), daughter of Michael Reitmeyer and Apollonia Benda. Baptized same day. Twelve known siblings. Married on 17 Apr 1872, in Maxberg, to Johann [John] Gerl, son of Michael Gerl & Katharina Penl of nearby Wassersuppen (Nemanice). Immigrated before 1892, and settled in Menominee, MI. Eight known children (at least two died young, in the US). Widowed 1898. Lived for a time in Chicago, IL. Returned to Menominee. Died at home of daughter Barbara (Gerl) Eckert, of 833 Dunlap Ave. Buried same plot as son John (d. 1914).

At least three siblings also immigrated to US: Francis (Reitmeyer) [Singer] Forster and Barbara (Reitmeyer) Kreuz, both buried at Riverside Cemetery (memorials 86062858 and 86074363, respectively); and Alexander Reitmeyer, buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, WI (memorial 95217498).
