Friday, Feb. 10, 1912:
• "L. Hansen, a young Norwegian employed as a scowman of the crew of the tug Mary Louise, fell overboard and was drowned in the bay Wednesday night near Beacon 12, according to a report which has been made by Captain Ben Greenwood of the tug.

"The unfortunate slipped on the deck of the vessel, according to the witnesses of the tragedy, and fell overboard. Although an expert swimmer, he was powerless to keep himself afloat, his heavy boots and other clothing retarding his efforts, and the water being too cold and the current in the wake of the tugboat too strong."

• "The body of an unknown white man, supposedly a seaman, was discovered floating in the bay near Beacon 13 by the revenue cutter Winona yesterday and was brought to the city on a tug boat last night about 8 o'clock. Coroner H.P. Hirschfield investigated, but found no signs of physical violence on the body. ...

"The body is believed to be that of a young Norwegian of the crew of the tug Mary Louise, who was lost overboard near Beacon 12 on the night of February 7."
