OBITUARY: Neosho Daily News, Thurs., Sept. 19, 1977 - William (Jess) Nichols, 86, Goodman died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday at Sale Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Nichols was born April 15, 1891 in Hiwasse, Ark., and had lived in the Goodman area 31 years, moving from Jane. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 479, both at Goodman, and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Nichols; four sons, Noman and Leonard, both of Jane, James, Raytown, and Norman, Saddle Brook, N,J., five daughters, Mrs. Cleta Alvina Kilgore, Moses Lake, Wash., Mrs. Kathryn Rose Garrison, Reseda, Calif., Mrs. Lola May Cameron, Carthage, Mrs. Grace Marie Hammond, West Covina, California, and Mrs. Marolyn Anne Bergen, Cottleville, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Lula Utter, Purdy; 35 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Goodman United Methodist Church. The Rev. Norman Logan will officiate and burial will be in the Muncie Chapel Cemetery near Wheaton, under direction of the Ozark Funeral Home of Goodman. (dated September 27, 1977)
