Funeral Services for Charles Elgin Atnip, 83 year old Leonard resident, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 15th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow-Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Charles Wrenn will officiate.
Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 until 9 P.M. Monday March 14th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Mr. Atnip was born March 23, 1927 at Siluria, Alabama. His parents were Lonnie Edward and Virginia Eloise Reid Atnip. He married Vera Dell Liner Brister September 16, 1976 at Leonard. He was retired from Southwest Pump in Bonham, a member of the Methodist Church and he enjoyed square dancing. He passed away Sunday March 13th at the Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham. He is survived by his sons: Eddie Brister of Commerce, Charles Elgin Atnip, Jr. of Reno, Nevada and John Wayne Atnip of Oregon; his daughter: Nancy Zachary of Celeste; his sisters; Edna Collins and Lyda Nichols of Bonham and Betty McSpedden of Carrollton. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a step-daughter.
Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.
