"The news of the death of Mr. Peterson caused surprise in Little Rock yesterday. Mr. Peterson served in the Legislature, which closed last May. It was while acting in that capacity when he was attacked by the gripe, causing an illness, which seriously undermined his health.
It was noticed that during the House Sessions, Mr. Peterson frequently complained of smoking by some of the members. It seemed distasteful to him.
Mr. Peterson was a quiet Member - seldom claiming attention, but was attentive and watchful of the people's interests. His name was never involved in scandal. He became well known, and the news of his tragic death is a shock to his friends throughout the State."
