Doris L. Baker, age 89, formerly of Troy, more recently of Heath, Ohio for the past thirteen years, passed away at 4:11AM on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the Flintridge Nursing & Rehab, Newark, Ohio. She was born on May 14, 1919 in Miami County, Ohio, to the late O.G. and Laurel J. (Williamson) Garman. She was married to David Baker who preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by two children: Douglas E. Baker and Delores Ann Baker both of Newark, Ohio; one brother, Dale Garman of Covington, Ohio; one sister, Pauline Folkerth of Tipp City, Ohio; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth and nine brothers, Ray, Glen, Lowell, Harley, Joseph, Harold, Dean, Don and Paul Garman.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #256, the VFW Auxiliary #5436, Troy Church of the Brethren, Friendship Club and Senior Citizens of Troy.
Services will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio, with interment to follow at Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio. Friends may call from 5-8PM Monday at the funeral home with special services held by the Eastern Star and VFW Auxiliary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 3797 Summit Glen Drive, G100, Dayton, Ohio 45449.
