Samuel Baxter, 81, Dies Sunday
Menominee Man Ill For Long Period
Samuel R. Baxter, 81, of 335 Fourth Place, Menominee, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday at the Menominee Nursing home where he had been for two weeks. He had been ill for 14 years and had been hospitalized frequently.
Mr. Baxter had been a resident of Menominee for 45 years and was a member of St. Ann's church. He was born March 24, 1875 in Fish Creek and married the former Delia Williams September 14, 1900 in Menominee.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Fred Posepheny and Mrs. Frances Arsineau of Menominee and Mrs. Eugene Baird of Chicago; three sons, Peter and Samuel Jr. of Marinette and Archie of Menominee; one sister, Mrs. Maude Burns of Texas; two brothers, Gustine of Fish Creek and Ervin Gaugh of Shawano; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A 9 o'clock requiem mass will be intoned Wednesday morning in the St. Ann's church with the Rev. Francis Geynet officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kell funeral home from 2 p.m. Tuesday until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The parish rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m
