Samuel John Berrett
LOGAN - Samuel John Berrett, 71, pioneer resident of Weber county, died Wednesday evening at a Logan hospital after an extended illness.
He was born November 9, 1867, at Pleasant View, Weber county, eldest son of Samuel F. and Elizabeth Newby Berrett. As a boy and young man he was instrumental in the pioneering and development of northwestern Utah. He married Annie Maughan Storey in Logan L.D.S. temple on January 10, 1889. They moved to Idaho, where they pioneered in the Snake river valley in the vicinity of Idaho Falls. Later they returned to Pleasant View. Mrs. Berrett died April 10 1935.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters, John Lester Berrett of Menan, Idaho; James S., Lawrence S., J. Hugh and Margaret Berrett of Ogden, and Mrs. Leonard Hasden and Mrs. Lee McKenney of Logan; the following brothers and sisters: Fred and Lewis Berrett and Mrs. Newton Andrus of Idaho Falls, Idaho; George Berrett of Blackfoot, Idaho; Frank Berrett of Roberts, Idaho, and Albert Berrett of Ashton, Idaho.
Funeral arrangement are to be announced by Lindquist and Sons mortuary of Ogden.
