O.P. Harlan, Sr was a retired Lubbock insurance man. He was in the banking business in Stamford for 25 years before moving to Lubbock in 1930. He was district manager for Mutual and United of Omaho Insurance Company until his retirement in 1950. He was married to Elnora Williams on 22 December 1923 in Haskell. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Lubbock, a Mason and a Shriner. Survived by his wife; one son - O.P. Harlan, Jr; three daughters - Rebecca Patterson, Mrs. H.J. Steinhoff, Rosemary Lee; two brothers - Dr. H.D. Harlan, J.O. Harlan; one sister - Mrs. J.S. McCarty.
