Born on October 6, 1921, in Ralston, Nebraska, Jo Ann was the daughter of Daniel and Ruth Carter. She married Jim Bradford on August 31, 1947, and they were married for fifty years before his death in 1997. After living in several cities where Jim worked with Ralston Purina, Jim, Jo Ann and their daughter Nell moved to Jackson in 1979.
Jo Ann was a homemaker and a loving support for Jim and Nell. She enjoyed people and had many friends because she accepted everyone. She always liked music, especially the singing of Frank Sinatra. She also liked reading and discussing books and politics. Jo Ann loved clothes and bright colors, and she wore them well.
Her favorite activities included golf, exercising and especially watching sporting events and attending programs at Jackson Prep, where Nell is assistant principal in the high school. She was a member of the Country Club of Jackson and of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, where she was a longtime member of church circle.
She is survived by her loving daughter Nell, her brother Jack Carter and his wife Diane, sister-in-law Pat, all of California, and many nieces and nephews. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her brother Hugh Carter and her sister Betty Carter Wallie.
Jo Ann will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her encouragement of others, her positive attitude and her bright smile. Nell thanks Rochelle Stevenson and Jackie Montgomery for their devoted care of her mother.
