The date of birth given for William McDonald in the Salt Lake Cemetery records is Sept. 1, 1845 in Edentary, Scotland. A familysearch.org group sheet shows his father's name is William and his mother's name is Esther.

At this time, I cannot find a William McDonald listed in the Pioneer Overland Search with the birth date or death date matching his. There is a William McDonald Heaton listed as an infant in the Daniel D. Mcarthur Company (1856) which states " He died en route 26 Sep., the day they arrived in Salt Lake."

This individual may be William McDonald Heaton. Son of William and Esther Beilby Heaton, who died on September 26, 1856 in Salt Lake City. He was born September 13, 1855 in Wilsden, Bradford, Yorkshire, England.

He is listed on the manifest of the ship 'Enoch Train', age one, traveling from England with his parents, William and Esther, and a brother, Christopher Heaton. The ship had made a stop in Scotland en route to the United States.
