From Find a Grave contributor Patricia Branson:

His obit was published in the Free Press on 4-27-68. William died on 4-24-68 in a local hospital. Other information in the obit was that he'd been a resident of Colorado since 1916. Well, that's close, but on 6-5-17 he registered for the WWI draft in his home state of North Carolina, so he didn't go west until afterwards. The card stated (as did the obit) that he was born April 12, 1895. It also lists his full name - William Anderson Rice. He was born in Madison County in a section known as Big Laurel. This document is particularly interesting in that it states that his parents, brothers and sisters all died of consumption (TB) and that William also had weak lungs. I believe that might be why he went to Colorado to begin with. On 4-16-1924 he married his first wife, Elsie Oaks, in Colorado Springs. His obit states he had a widow, Lillie E. Rice, but I have no info about this second wife. William's WWII Draft Card verifies his birth date as 4-12-1895.
