Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter. Mon. Feb. 8, 1965, p. B22, c. 1. W.M. PETRIE IS DEAD AT 50 AT ST. AGNES. Electric Firm Head; St. Joseph's Rites Are Announced. Walter M. Petrie, 244 Boyd street, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday at St. Agnes hospital at the age of 50. Death followed an extended illness. He was born Feb. 11, 1914 at St. Peter, the son of John and Mathilda Birschbach Petrie. He married Peggy Daun on Feb. 3, 1937, at St. John's church, Johnsburg. Mr. Petrie was president and former partner in the Bachman-Petrie Electric company when it was formed in 1945, and formed his own company in 1955. He was secretary-treasurer and later president of Fond du Lac Electrical Contractors association, chairman of the Fond du Lac area electricians' joint apprenticeship and training committee, member of Local 494, I.B.E.W., and recently resigned as chairman of the municipal electrical advisory board. He was a member of St. Joseph's church, Holy Name society, and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his widow; one son, David, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Gerold Tighe and Mrs. Gerald Hopp of Fond du Lac, and Joyce and Jane at home; six grandsons, his parents; three brothers, Alfred of Appleton, Ambrose of San Clemente, Calif., and Harold of St. Peter; and one sister, Mrs. Elmer Deitte of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by one sister. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Zacherl Funeral home and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry G. Riordan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Petrie, who died Sunday, were held today at 9:30 a.m. from the Zacherl Funeral home and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic church. The Rev. John R. Schumacher officiated and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry G. Riordan delivered the sermon. Honorary pallbearers were Randall Coulson, Wiloliam Ellicson, Anthony Koenigs, Ambrose McTrusty, Jr., George Hoopman, Marvin Berens, William Edwards, Lawrence O'Connor, Blas O'Brien, George Siegmann, James Running, Gary Kellett, and Richard Martiny. Pallbearers were Milton VanderBloemen, Kenneth Miller, Macken Crowley, James Gendron, David Cardinal, and Gerald Miller. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
