JOHN PETRIE DIES; FUNERAL AT ST. MARY'S
Farmer Many Years, Hospital Employe Expires at 79

John L. Petrie, 79, of 337 Maple Ave., a retired Taycheedah farmer and employe of St. Agnes Hospital, died at 9:20 a.m. today at the hospital following a lingering illness.

Mr. Petrie was born June 24, 1887, in Taycheedah, the son of Matt and Anna Schmitz Petrie. He married Mathilda Birschbach Oct. 20, 1908, at Mt. Calvary. A farmer in Taycheedah until 28 years ago, when he moved to Fodn du Lac, he was employed as an elevator operator at St. Agnes Hospital at the time of his death. A member of St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society, he was also a member of St. Peter's Church at St. Peter.

Survivors include his widow; three sons, Alfred, Appleton, Ambrose, San Clemente, Calif., and Harold of Malone; one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Diette, city; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Petrie, Malone; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Mengel and Mrs. Mary Wempner, both residing in the city. He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at noon at St. Mary's Church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Maurer officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at St. Peter.

Funeral services for John L. Petrie, who died Wednesday, were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Uecker-Witt Fuenral Home and noon at St. Mary's Church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Maurer officiating.

Honorary pallbearers, members of the Holy Name Society, were Cletus Hochrein, George Reska, Peter Weyer and Arthur Mossong.

Active pallbearers, grandsons of the deceased, were Jack Deitte, Mike Deitte, Thomas Petrie, Stanley Petrie, Al Petrie and David Petrie. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery, St. Peter.
