Topeka - Gerdine LaVeda Seeley, Topeka, died May 1, 2005, at St. Frances Hospital, Topeka, at the age of 96. She had been a resident of the Brewster Place Retirement Community, Topeka. The daughter of Howard A. and Florence E. Reese Young, she was born Feb. 22, 1909, at Oblong, Ill. She was a graduate of El Dorado High School. She had attended El Dorado Junior College and Stephens College, Columbia, Mo. She married Myron Springer Seeley, Sr., Sept. 22, 1928 in El Dorado. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Social Service Club, and Chapter AJ of the PEO Sisterhood. She had served as a volunteer at Stormont-Val Hospital for more than 15 years.

Preceding her in death was her husband. Survivors include a son, Myron S. Seeley, Jr., wife Rachel, Topeka; a sister-in-law, Fath Dumler, Russell; three nephews, four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.

Cremation is planned. Private family inurnment services will be conducted at the Russell City Cemetery, Russell. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Topeka; or to the Williams Educational Fund, Lawrence. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, is in charge of the arrangements.
