William Elihu Moore
1854 - 1926

William is the son of Elijah Washington Naillon and Nancy Moore. He and his sisters, Rosanah and Salena took their mother's surname. Their parents were never married to each other.

He married Sarah Jane Price in about 1874 in Newport, Cocke County, Tennessee. From this union came Nancy Ellen Moore and Joseph Moore. William had a relationship with his wife's cousin, Amanda "Mandie" Price. They did not marry but had two children: son, William "Bill" and daughter, Dovie.

The 1880 US Census finds his family in Upper Cosby in Cocke County. He and his wife have a baby daughter, Nancy Ellen. His mother, Nancy and neice, Elizabeth, are also living with them.

He worked as a farmer most of his life according to his death record.

Records show he died in Hartford, Tennessee, and two records state he was buried in Grassy Fork, TN; the cemetery is unknown at this time. It is possible he was buried in Naillon-Moore Cemetery with many other members of his family, but this has not been confirmed.

- Researched and written by Annie Duckett Hundley, William's 2nd great-grandniece and Elijah's 3rd great-granddaughter.
