DEATH TAKES EVERETT STEWART

J. E. Stewart, 80, one of the best known farmers in the Hawley district northwest of Hartford, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Clinard, in Bangor. His death followed a long period of ill health. Funeral rites for him will be held at the Hawley church, of which he was a member, at 11 o'clock this morning, with burial at the Thomas cemetery. Rev. John W. Brexheim will officiate. Mrs. Brexheim and Miss Mamie Howes will sing. Mr. Stewart had spent his entire life in this section. He was born in Hagar township, Berrien county, August 18, 1849. His parents moved to Hawley in 1864 and erected the buildings on the present Bruno Unrath farm. On January 1, 1875, he was married to Miss Mary Hawley. Two children were born to them. Mrs. Jennie Adams who died eight years ago, and Mrs. Louise Playard of the Hawley district. Mrs. Stewart died in 1880, and on November 13, 1885, he was married to Miss Mary J. Nutting. One daughter, Mrs. Agnes Clinard of Bangor, was born to them. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Stewart had resided on the Nutting homestead in Hawley until they sold their farm a year ago. Mr. Stewart is survived by his widow and two daughters, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and by two brothers, Ashmond Stewart of Coloma and Edgar Stewart of Watervliet.
