Mr. Kurmas was my Vice Principal at Dearborn Fordson High School in the school year of 1982-1983. When he died of cancer in 1992, he was the head Principal at O.L. Smith Junior High. He was a real kind and helpful man that I always had looked up too. He really cared about his students and colleagues. Mr. Kurmas was survived by his wife Irene, a daughter Camille; two sons, Patrick and Neal. His mother Margaret Donelly Kurmas, two sisters and a brother.
