John J. Tuma, 88, of Montgomery died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Reflections in Northfield.
John was born September 27, 1923, in Webster, a son of Albert and Anna (Simek) Tuma. He attended country school in Veseli and graduated from Northfield High School. He married Angela Pesta on January 4, 1944, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Northfield. John was a farmer, truck driver and also owned Tuma Dairy. He enjoyed working, listening to old time music, fishing, farming, spending time with family and winters in Arizona. John was a member of the Catholic Workman and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife; children Kenneth (Arlene) Tuma, Northfield, Cheryl (Ivan) Woodard, Green Island, NE, David (Ruth) Tuma, Brooklyn Center, and Denise Pinc, Northfield; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son John David Tuma; a brother Albert Tuma; eight brothers and sisters in infancy; and son-in-law Francis Pinc.
Funeral services were held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 a.m.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visitation was held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday, also at the funeral home.
