Rev. Roy Lawrence, Jr., 78 of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at NMMC-West Point, MS.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 6 PM – 9 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 1:30 PM at the Caledonia United Pentecostal Church, Caledonia, MS with Rev. J. T. Wheat, officiating and Rev . Gerald Davis, Rev. Don Knight, Rev. Johnny Burgess, Rev. Alan Shortridge, Rev. Raymond Swerringim, Rev. Larry McDonald, Rev. Vandy Pope and Rev. Ricky Bowen, assisting. Interment will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Rev. Lawrence was born October 1, 1931 in Bogalusa, LA to the late Elvie Lutee Johnson Lawrence and Thurman Roy Lawrence, Sr. He has been a resident of the Columbus, MS area for the past 33 years having moved from Springfield, OR. Rev. Lawrence was an Evangelist and served in the ministry for the past 61 years. He was a member of Worldwide Pentecostal Fellowship, enjoyed preaching and was the founder and builder of numerous churches across the United States.
Rev. Lawrence is survived by his wife – Rhoda Lawrence, Columbus, MS; sons – Timothy (Tina) Lawrence, Macon, MS; Titus (Genise) Lawrence, Pine, LA; Samuel Lawrence, Sheridan, AR; daughters - Sharon (Dewayne) Owen, Caledonia, MS; Beckie (John) Barham, Ethelsville, AL; brothers – Bob Lawrence, Savannah, GA; Sidney Lawrence, Baker, LA; Freddie Lawrence, Varnado, LA; sisters – Patricia Davis, Savannah, TN; Martha Floyd, Lithonia, GA; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Larry Talent, Rev. James Menona, Rev. R.J. Buras, Rev. Michael Buras, Roy Rice and Roy Lawrence. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Johnny Burgess, Rev.
