Clara Boucher
ODESSA

The Lord called Clara Boucher home on Tuesday, June 5, 2007. She passed on at her home in Odessa surrounded by loved ones.

Clara was born in Harrah, Oklahoma, in 1908, to Emma and Albert Loessin. She was one of eight children. Her education was cut short after the eighth grade because she was needed to help work the farm with her parents and older siblings.

Although times were hard, her family owned their own farm and sold and supplied vegetables and dairy products to many of the townspeople.

Clara married Robert Townson in 1928. She worked at a chicken hatchery. Together they had three children. The marriage dissolved after thirteen years.

Living through the depression, times were difficult for Clara and her children. Wages were small but she managed to raise her family on a mere seven dollars a week.

In 1941, a blind date brought a tall and handsome young man into her life. He was Harry Boucher, a widower with two small children. Theirs was love at first sight and a short courtship began.

In 1943, they were married in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now, the newly married couple had five children to raise. In 1943, they moved to Odessa, Texas with the prospect of a better life due to the oil boom, which proved to bring many years of success.

Clara went to beauty school and became a beauty operator for about 25 years. Harry owned his own business and also invented several oilfield machines.

He was also a constable and a deputy sheriff. Their life was full of love for the Lord, family and friends. They shared twenty-eight years together after their last child married. They were active in their church and traveled the country to visit family and friends.

Clara lived with two of her daughters after Harry's death in 1987. She was a member of Royalty Heights Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Several years before her death, she joined Central Baptist where she made many new friends. She loved her church life and was able to help and see the church grow and expand to what it is today.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter Lea, her daughter-in-law, Barbara, three sisters, two brothers, three grandchildren and one great grandson.

Survivors include her son, Charles Boucher and daughter Bobbe Harrold, both of Odessa, daughter, Carolyn Bates and husband T.J. of Jackson, Mississippi, daughter, Barbara Nelson and husband, Lee, Sr. of Fullerton, California, and one brother, Otto Loessin of Oklahoma, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, eight great, great grandchildren, one great, great, great grandson, four nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6-8PM, Friday June 8, 2007 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Central Baptist Church, 1416 N. Texas Ave., Odessa with the Reverend David Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Clara's family wishes to thank her for ninety-eight years of love and support. We will all greatly miss her. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Doran for his many years of professional care.

Finally our sincere thanks and gratitude for the care, love and support received from Home Hospice. Their care, help and kindness was far beyond anything expected.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa.
