Albert J. Loessin

Shawnee resident Albert J. "Sonny" Loessin died Thursday at a local nursing home. He was 87.

He was born June 6, 1914, to Albert and Emma Loessin in St. Paul, Minn. He grew up in the Meeker area and had lived in Shawnee since 1954.

He was married Dec. 20, 1935, to Aileen Bryson, who died Dec. 29, 1964. He was married June 10, 1966, to Geneva Welch, who died in April 1990.

He attended the Wesley Methodist Church of Shawnee

Loessin also was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-laws, Amelia and Leon Watkins of Tecumseh; Wanda Kay and Craig Myers of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Holly Emig of Edmond and Kevin Myers of Shawnee; a brother, Otto Loessin of Shawnee, a sister, Clara Boucher of Odessa, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
