Mr. Gay was a Telecommunications Specialist with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture for 35 years.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam Era and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata, MD. He enjoyed entering contest sweepstakes. He was a homebody and enjoyed being with family, especially his granddaughter. He was a volunteer at the Charles County Nursing Home and a former member of the Architectural Review Board for Marlton. He also enjoyed attending sporting events with his son.
He was the son of George Edward Gay and the late Iris A. Raine Gay.
He was predeceased by his mother, Iris A. Gay.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen M. Gay; father, George E. Gay of St. Albans, VT; one son, Christopher Stephen Gay of King George, VA; one daughter, Jennifer T. (Thomas) Rison of Port Tobacco, MD; one sister, Susan Flannigan of Windsor, CT; and one granddaughter, Grace Rison.
A Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 5-8pm with Prayers at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.
Interment to follow in Church Cemetery.
Clergy will be Father Ron Potts.
