JEFFERSON- August C Gruennert, 80, of Helenville, died here of a heart attack Monday at the home of his son, Arthur, Jefferson county register of deeds.
Mr Gruennert was born 19 June 1871 in Farmington, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Gruennert. He operated a general merchandise store in Helenville from 1904 to 1946.
Mr Gruennert was married in Helenville in 1896 to Minnie Haas, Hebron. She died in 1927.
A resident of Helenville all his life, Mr Gruennert was president of the Bank of Helenville for the past 20 years. He was one of the founders of the bank
He was president of St. Peter’s Lutheran church, for several years and served as church treasurer.
Besides his son, Arthur he is survived by three other sons, Edwin C, Indianapolis, Linus, Portland, Oregon, and Romeo, Helenville; five daughters, Mrs A.T. McDonald, Fairfax, California, Mrs Louis Buelow, Sullivan, Mrs Harold Schatz, West Bend, Mrs Elmer Sayre, Jefferson, Mrs Robert Paige, San Bruno, California, 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev Gerhard P Fischer officiating, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Friends may call at the Minshall funeral home at Jefferson until 12:30 pm Thursday when the body will be taken to the church.
The son of Carl Johann Friedrich Sr and Friedericke Christiana Klein Gruennert.
He married Wilhelmine Auguste Haas at St. Peter's on July 12, 1896.
He was the father of the following; Arthur Johann Wilhelm,
Bernice Laura, Daisy Olivia Ida, Esther Carolina Maria, Linus Emil, Minna Louisa, Elsa Barbara, Edwin Carl and Romeo Johann.
