Shirley A. Babcock died February 15, 2012 at the age of 88.
Shirley Pamelia Andersen was born July 31, 1923 in Portland, Oregon daughter of Arthur Valdemar and Violet Valetta Andersen. She was a graduate of U.S. Grant High School in Portland.
During World War II, she enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard as a Spar from 1943 to 1946. With the rank of SK1C, Storekeeper First Class. She then served in the Naval Reserve until 1957.

In 1947 she married Chief Petty Officer, John W. Frost, US Navy and was a navy wife for 17 years. Her son John W. Frost III was born while they were stationed in California. Returning to Portland, Shirley worked at the U.S. Forest Service and Job Corps from 1964 to 1985.

While working at the Timber Lake Job Corp Center she met and married Harold E. Babcock. After 30 years together Harold passed away in 1999.
A big part of her life was spent as a member of ‘The Order of the Eastern Star'. She was active for 43 years. She was also a big supporter of the Friends of Timberline. Her other interests included Photography, Quilting, Bowling and Golf.

Shirley was predeceased by her sister Betty Lou Frost of Aberdeen, Washington.
She is survived her son John W. Frost III, step daughters: Nancy Babcock-Smith, Janet Goyt and Beverly Larson. Her six grandchildren are Jennifer Frost, John W. Frost IV, Nicole Frost, Rebecca Goyt, Erik Larson and Julie Larson. Also three great grandchildren: Evander Beau Birou, Landon Gilbert Larson and Gunner Mikael Larson.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 @ 11:30 am at Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud Funeral Home. Located at 715 7th Street Oregon City, OR 97045.

There will be a reception to follow at the funeral home with refreshments followed by a graveside ceremony and military honors at 2:00pm at Willamette National Cemetery 11800 SE Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97266.
