Mrs. George B. Crippen

Caroline Winslow, wife of George B. Crippen, president of the Bank of Worcester, passed peacefully away in her sleep some time during Thursday night of last week. Death came as a great shock to her many friends, for while Mrs. Crippen had not been in good health and had spent several weeks recently at the Tacoma Park sanitarium, Washington, D.C., she had returned home much improved in health, and to friends who saw her Thursday, she appeared unusually well. Coronary thrombosis was given as the cause of death.

Born in Oneonta, August 31st, 1871, a daughter of Russell and Martha J. (Gile) Winslow, Mrs. Crippen was a graduate of the Oneonta State Normal, class of 1894, and a member of the Agonian sorority. Following graduation, she taught in Worcester High School for two years and August 3d, 1896, was amrried at Milford to mr. crippen.

Mrs. Crippen was chairman of the Worcester REd Cross in 1918 and 1919, a charter member of iroquois chapter, D.A.R., and had held the office of regent in that organization three different times. She had been a loyal member of the Fornightly Literary club for nearly forty years, and was secretary of the society at her death. A woman of Christian character, a staunch friend, devoted to her home and vilalge, she leaves a host of friends who will mourn her loss.

Surviving are her husband; one brother, stephen J. Winslow of Milford; and four nieces.

Funeral services were held from the home on Cook street Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. j.C. Rankin, pastor of the Calvary Presbyterian church officiated, and burial was made in the family plot in Maple grove cemetery.
