Born in Springer, OK, she was the daughter of Robert Oliver Beam, 1886 – 1960, and Nora Bell Hobson Beam, 1886 – 1971.

She was the sibling of: Elvis Bivious Beam, 1906 – __, Riner N. Beam, 1919 – 1945, and a sister.

On 26 Oct 1929, she became the wife of Lawrence Mantooth in Wayne, McClain Co., OK.

Beginning in 1930, they resided in Sulphur, OK, where her husband was a coach and high school principal.

In 1938, the couple moved to Purcell and built and established the first supermarket, Mantooth's Grocery.

From 1960-1964, she became the Oklahoma President of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU).

The couple were faithful and active members of the Purcell First Baptist Church.
