Niles was born in Walla Walla, Washington on the 4th of August 1921 to Marion Edward Carr and Edith Evangeline Hyatt. The family move around a lot as his Dad worked at several jobs to support the family. They were living in Joseph City Arizona when he went the local Mormon Bishop (Westover) and asked him who was the “best Mormon girl in Joe City” The answer was Alma Tanner. They met, dated and then married by Bishop Westover December 14, 1940.

They had three children, all born in different cities, due to his work in construction. They ended up with thirteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

Niles built projects in at least ten different states including the World’s largest Aircraft Hanger and the tallest building in Idaho. He built his first project in Arizona at the age of sixteen.

He and Alma retired to Perris, California. His rose bushes and boysenberry plants were famous. He was even a rose tester for Jackson and Perkins.

He had open heart surgery in 1975. He died of a stroke on December 12, 2001 in Fontana, California.
