Alma was born to Marion Lyman Tanner and Willie Belle Evans on July 16, 1920 in Joseph City Arizona. Her mother listed her birth name as Myrna on the Birth Certificate form, but when she was blessed by her father, he gave her the name Alma. She hated the name Alma because it was the name of a man in the Mormon Faith, but when she found out her real name in 1965, she had the record changed to show her name as Alma.
She grew up in Joseph City and only left to attend High School in Holbrook and Business School in Phoenix. She met her future husband in Joseph City and they were married there Dec 14, 1940.
She and Niles had three children, thirteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren,
She was in frail health a great deal of her life, but maintained an active schedule her whole life.
She died on Memorial Day, May 26, 2003 in Newhall, California and was buried along side her husband in Whittier California
