Josiah was the son of Josiah Sr. and Miriam Moore. He married Sarah Swett, daughter of Joseph and Jemima (Wormwood) Swett in 1793.

In 1800 Josiah Jr. was enumerated in the census in Ellsworth residing next door to his father. Josiah Jr. at that time had threedaughters under the age of 5 and Sally would give birth to the 4th daughter that year. By 1810 he had added that daughter and had seven boys, 4 of whom were under 5 yrs of age, in the household, unknown if these were all his children.

Josiah and Sarah were the parents of Sally, Jemima, Joanna, Miriam, Ada, Josiah III, Lucy (Lucana), Charlotte, Leonard J. Garland, Barbary (Reuben) , Asa, Charles and perhaps others.

The Faylene Hutton Cemetery record shows no dates nor a stone and lists him as buried at Reed Brook with wife Sarah who died Sept 17, 1854 age 80 and son Reuben who died Aug 31, 185 (1?) age 29, 8 mos and 23 days. This record compiled in 1982 so stone may not have been extant at that time.
