Samuel sometimes spelled his surname Whiting instead of Whiton. Samuel was a constable in Hingham, MA from 1747 to 1753.
He lived at Liberty Plain, MA and South Hingham, MA (History of Hingham, Vol. III, page 293; and History of Hanover, page 424).
He served as a private in the 2nd Foot Company of Soldiers under Capt. Theophilus Cushing of Hingham (Original Muster Roll held by the New York Chapter of the Society of Colonial Wars).
In his Will he provided very well for his wife and children.
