Luzana Smith was the daughter of William J. and Anna (Laws) Smith. On July 12, 1850, when Luzana was 17 years old and 5 mos, she married Andrew Warren Lowry in Richland County, Illinois by William Ramsey, Minister. Andrew Lowry's 1st wife, Eliza (Basden) Lowry, age 26, died in February of 1850, leaving two small boys, Lilburn B. about age 8 and Lott W. age 4. Eliza and Luzana were first cousins. Luzana and Andrew had 4 children: Levi Smith Lowry, born Aug. 18, 1851 in Richland County, Illinois; Lewis R. born July 3, 1854 in Richland County, Illinois; Lucinda A. born 1861 in Mercer County, Missouri; Lettie Jane born 1867 in Mercer County, Missouri. Andrew's two older boys, Lilburn and Lott died as a result of the Civil War. Luzana's husband, Andrew died May 9, 1867 at the age of 46. Andrew Lowry's sister was Clarissa A. who was married to George Henry "Doc" Combs. Clarissa Lowry Combs died Jan. 29, 1879. Luzana married George Henry "Doc" Combs on Feb. 15, 1880 in Mercer County, Missouri. She died Dec 31, 1911 at age 78 in Mercer, Mercer County, Missouri.
