Married Rachel Summers 1740 and had 12 children with her. He served as a private during the Revolutionary War in the 5th Co. Upper Battalion, Militia of Maryland. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Goostree) Johnson.

His will was probated 10 Jan 1795, so he probably died in 1794.
