Newspaper Clipping:.......June 23, 1949..........The body of Karl Robert Laubhan, killed in action in the European theater during the last World War, will arrive in Russell Saturday for final funeral and burial services. The final rites will be held Sun. afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Theordore Althof conducting the service. Burial will be in the Russell Lutheran cemetery with the Russell American Legion and V.F.W. Posts in charge of appropriate military rites at the cemetery. After the body arrives in Russell and until time for the services, it will lie in state at the Deines Funeral Home.
Karl Robert Laubhan, son of Gottfred and Eva Elizabeth Laubhan, was born Sept 25, 1923 in Russell. He was baptized Nov. 4, 1923 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 10, 1938. He graduated from R.H.S. in 1941. In May 1943 he entered the service of his country and was sent overseas in Oct. 1944. He was killed in action Mar. 15, 1945 at Arienburg, Germany. He was 21 years of age at the time of his death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers and three sisters: Theodore of Russell; Reinhardt, in the service stationed in Panama; Reuben, Also in the service stationed in Germany; Mrs. F.N. Stickney of Coronado, CA; and Mrs. R.J. Tague and Mrs. Clarence Wagner, both of Russell. One sister preceded him in death in 1913.
AND Per Eric Ackerman (48445240) - " Karl R. Laubhan (37528263), Technical Sergeant, is listed as Killed In Action in the 1946 Army and Army Air Forces Personnel Casualty List for Russell County, Kansas. "
