Plymouth – William H. Wade, 71, former owner of the historical Wade House at Greenbush, passed away Friday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helen Limberg, 123 South Street, after an illness of two weeks. Born Oct. 27, 1871, in Greenbush, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis C. Wade. In March, 1895, he was married to Veronica Herrling, and she died in March, 1939. He was a member of Cassia lodge, No. 167, F&AM. The deceased was a grandson of Sylvanus Wade, a pioneer in the Greenbush area who built the Wade House in 1850. For 91 years the famous landmark on Highway 23 remained in the wade family, housing such notable visitors as Abraham Lincoln. In August, 1941, the house was sold to Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Dorst, Freeport, Ill.
Surviving are three sons, Allen of Tuscon, Ariz., Donald of Milwaukee, and Hollis Wade of Sheboygan; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Limberg of Plymouth and Miss Dorothy Wade, Waupun; five grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Wade of Fond du Lac. A brother, Bennie Wade preceded him in death.
Masonic services will be conducted Monday afternoon in the Wittkopp Funeral home, with interment in Greenbush cemetery.

William's brother and wife, Frank and Mattie, make three generations of Wades to celebrate their Golden wedding anniversaries. Sylvanus & Betsy being the first, and Hollis and Althea being the second generation. Two of William & Veronica's children, Allen and Donald, also celebrated Golden anniversaries as have a grandson, Allen Limberg, and a granddaughter.
