Mary Virginia Buhrman was the first born child of George Asbury Buhrman and Annie Ethel Slusser, born April 14, 1919.
She was raised on her grandfather Abraham Buhrman's family homestead known as Valley View Farm in Eagle Rock, Botetourt County, Va.
In 1929 the family moved to Clifton Forge so Virginia and her two sisters (Doris and Grey) could attend school. Virginia Buhrman attended Moody Grade School in Clifton Forge and graduated from Blackstone College for Girls (a Methodist church college).
In 1947, she got a job at Appalachian Power Company in Roanoke as a Clerk Typist in the Meter Dept., where she met her future husband Dennis.
Mary Virginia Buhrman married Dennis Kirkwood Craft Oct. 21, 1948 in Roanoke, Va. They made their home in Roanoke and had two daughters. She also raised Dennis Craft's son from his previous marriage to Nan Elizabeth Hastings (who passed away from consumption in 1947).
Virginia was active at the First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va. She was a member of the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, as was her sister Doris Ethel Snyder.
Virginia loved her family and friends and was known for being one of the sweetest, kindest, and most thoughtful people you could ever meet.
She also dearly loved animals. Growing up on a farm, her parents gave her a calf as a pet to raise. She enjoyed playing with her cats, dogs, and rode horses as well. She was an accomplished pianist and an excellent seamstress.
She passed away June 8, 2008 at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home in Roanoke, Va.
