Amos Tims, Esq. was the son of Joseph Tims and Mary Glover. Amos was an attorney, a Justice of the Peace, and bought lots of land.
The following comes from a letter written in 1940 by Amos Tims great-granddaughter:
"He had evidently become something of a legendary figure to his family in later years, Mrs. Owens writes that he was proud of his "noble blood and aristocratic family," she said she had seen pictures of him. "He was always standing reared back, his sandals had big buckles on them and his stockings reached to the knee. His long knee breeches, long-tailed coat, ruffled shirt bosom and his English haircut, long and curled up at the ends."

He married Mary Cabeen 5 Feb 1807 in Chester, South Carolina. This union had 9 children:

*Alexander Tims
*Juliet Tims
*Carolina Tims
*Chrycies Tims
*Paulina Tims

Previous to Mary and Amos's marriage,Amos was married to Frances H Sims (1780-1805) She died in child birth leaving 7 children:
-Joseph Sims Tims 1796-1797
-Mary Tims 1798-1824
-John Isaiah Tims 1798-1805
-Nathan Tims 1802-1872
-Alford Tims 1803-1894
-Reuben Tims 1804-1806
-Martha Ann Lucy Tinnes 1804-1870
