In 1900 he and his parents and four siblings lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, PA.

In 1910 he and his parents and two siblings lived there. Joseph worked as a superintendent for a structural iron company and Harvey worked as a laborer on the home farm.

In 1920 he and his parents and brother Harvey lived there. They both worked as laborers at a coal mine.

In 1930 he, his wife, their son, and her mother lived in a place they were renting for $35 a month at 173 Fairfield Avenue in Johnstown, PA. They did have a radio. He worked as a life insurance salesman and Golda as a public school teacher.
