Velma G. (Copsey) Cox
Born in Lower Lake, CA, Velma was the sixth of seven children. Her family and friends were blessed with her love and companionship for 104 years!
She married Harley W. Cox in 1925 and they raised two girls in San Diego County.
Devotion to helping others and witnessing for God was her life's theme. In her early years of marriage she demonstrated her strong faith in Christian principles through taking in needy families, and in her elder years by requesting doctors to pray with her before a surgery. She witnessed to everyone she came in touch with. Gardening and being with children brought joy and sparkle to her life. She always sought to do well and to serve others.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harley W. Cox; her daughter, June A. Moore; her son-in-law, Roger Moore; her grandchildren, Susan M. Stratton and James Gary Stratton; and grand-child-in-law, Kevin A. Mings.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Verna C. Stratton, seven of her nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Velma requested no flowers be sent after her passing. The family suggests donations be made to "The Sponsorship Fund" in her name. This fund helps provide a Christian Education for children.
