Shelby Earl Moore, 84, of Ridgeland, passed from this life to be with his Savior on February 12, 2012. He was born on June 2, 1927 in Sardis, Miss. and married on June 20, 1954. His wife, Dorothy Ruth Martin Moore and parents, Benjamin Harrison and Luxora Caldwell Moore, precede him in death. He is survived by his three children, Marty Moore (Kim), Shellie Moore Sims (Jerry), and Cyndie Moore Robertson (Gene). He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Jordan and Austin Moore, David Sims, Sarah Sims Bass, Emily Robertson Qualls (Justin), Shelby and Katie Ruth Robertson, and one great grandchild, Evelie Lynn Bass.

Shelby was a faithful and dedicated member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He retired in 1992 from American States Insurance Company as a Claim's Manager. Shelby served his country during WWII in the Navy as a Ship's Cook receiving an Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed cooking and working in his garden. Growing up as a star athlete, he loved all sports and coached numerous athletic teams in the Jackson metro area. He was also an avid Ridgeland Titan and Ole Miss Rebel fan.

Visitation will be held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, February 14th and at Ridgecrest Baptist Church from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday, February 15th with the funeral following at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland. He will be greatly missed, but we know we will see him again. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to the Building Fund at Ridgecrest Baptist Church; 7469 Old Canton Road; Madison, MS 39110.
