Leota Mae Shelburg, 73, passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

She was born August 6, 1938, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Dwight and Daisy (Benson) Williams.

Leota worked for Allied Insurance and retired from Container Recovery. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and enjoyed crafts and gardening. In recent years, Leota found great enjoyment spending time on the computer playing Farmville.

Leota is survived by her sons, Bobby (Kristi), Steven, and Denny (Kathy); grandchildren, Jason Shelburg, Justin Shelburg, Chantelle Hayes, Nathan Shelburg, Crystal Shelburg, Kayla Shelburg, Devin Shelburg, Dalton Shelburg and Karsen Shelburg; seven great-grandchildren, Mallory, Brant, Karlee, Baylee, Christian, Tyler and Brooklyn; sisters, Florence Knapp of Des Moines, Marilyn Samuelson of Des Moines, and Nora Ann Young of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Shelburg, Sr., May 21, 2005.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service time at the funeral home, beginning at 9 a.m.
