Born March 12, 1929 at Elton, he was the son of the late Willey P. & Nellie Campbell Surbaugh.
Mr. Surbaugh was a retired service technician with Briers Furniture Company in Hinton. He was a member of the Hinton Church of Christ and had lived in Hinton for the past 55 years.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Darnell Surbaugh.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Tate Surbaugh. Three sons, Charles P. Surbaugh, Jr. and Keith Surbaugh & wife Kim, both of Hinton and John Surbaugh of Blacksburg, VA. Five daughters, Patricia Graham & husband Cecil of Speedway, WV, Debra Meador & husband Roger of Summersville, Treisa Pack of Jumping Branch, Brenda Allen & husband Jeff and Regina Trout, both of Hinton. One brother, Willey Paul Surbaugh, Jr. of Sandstone. Two sisters, Barbara Seafriend of Hinton and Deloris Richmond & husband James of Charleston, WV. Eighteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
At Mr. Surbaugh's request, the body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday March 10, 2008 at the Hinton Church of Christ with Minister John McCain officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until time of services today at the church.
