Obituary - Mrs. Dumler
Mary Katherine Dumler was born in Morgentan, Russia, February 2, 1858. She was united in marriage to Fred Dumler, February 9, 1878. They came direct from Russia to Russell County in 1891 and settled on a farm near Russell. They moved to town last December.
She had been in ill health, and on February 9 had a third paraletic stroke.
She died this morning, February 14, 1916, leaving surviving her, her husband, Fred Dumler, five sons, Fred Dumler, Jr., George Dumler, Mike Dumler and Conrad Dumler, two daughters, Mrs. John Niedens and Mrs. Fred Eberhardt. She leaves also, one brother, Mr. George Beck, who lives in Russia, one sister, Mrs. Katherine Elizabeth Dumler, twenty grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her death.
She was a woman of very strong character; a devoted and consistent Christian and a member of the German Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, February 15, beginning at one o'clock from the home and at 1:45 at the church. Rev. Wm. Harder will have charge of the services.

"Obituary - Mrs. Fred Dumler, Sr.
The death of Mrs. Fred Dumler, Sr., occurred at the home in Russell, Monday, February 14, 1916, after an illness of five days following a stroke of paralysis, which left her helpless during that time. Death came peacefully in the early hours of Monday morning. March 6, 1913, she suffered her first stroke almost to a day, one year later a second was experienced and the third came on February 9, the 38th wedding anniversary, almost a year after the second stroke. All of the children, except Mrs. John Niedens, were at their moth's bedside when the end came and Mrs. Niedens had been here last week.
Maria Katharina Beck was born February 2, 1858, at Morgentau, Russia. In the year 1891 the family came to this country and settled on the farm near Russell, where they lived until last December when they moved to Russell. Deceased was united in marriage to Fred Dumler, February 9, 1878, at Blumenfeld, Russia. Seven children, all living, were born to them. The sons are: Fred Dumler, Jr., George H. Dumler, Mike F. Dumler, Conrad Dumler and Carl Dumler, all of Russell Co., the daughters are Mrs. John Niedens, of Russell Co. and Mrs. Fred Eberhardt, of Barton Co.. One brother, George Beck, and one sister, Katharina Elizabeth Dumler live in this Co.. Two brothers are in Russia. She also leaves her husband and twenty grandchildren. Mrs. Dumler was a faithful christian and devoted member of the St. John's Ev. Lutheran church of Russell, where the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. William Harder. The large crowd, much too great to get into the church, which came to pay their tribute of respect was indeed a most fitting indication of the love and esteem the community held for this good mother. The pall bearers were: Henry Strecker, John Dumler, J. F. Ehrlich, Fred Ressig, Henry Milberger and George Ehrlich of Oakley. The body was laid to rest, in the church cemetery."
