Marilyn J. Dorman, 84, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Rock Island, passed away Dec. 25, 2010, after fighting a battle with Alzheimer's.

Her body will be donated to science and later buried next to her husband, Jack, at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Marilyn was born in Opheim to W.J. and Ruth Nelson. She had two brothers, William (Millie) and Dick (Joann), and two sisters, Inez and Pat.

She graduated from Alpha High School in 1945. She then graduated from the Government Cadet Program at Moline Public Hospital, as an RN. She was a nurse on Arsenal Island, Rock Island.

She married Jack Dorman, of Dorman Jewelers in Rock Island, and had three boys, Scott, Jeff and Jim. She had five grandchildren, Christine, Sheila, Jackie, Chad and Jaryad. She also had three great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Opheim and later at St. James Lutheran Church in Rock Island. Jack and Marilyn moved to Arizona in 1979.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, William; two sisters; husband, Jack; and two sons, Scott and Jim.
