Allen was a brilliant and dynamic man, respected by all. He rose to the position of Chief Financial Office at Young & Vann Supply Company in Birmingham, from which he retired after many years. In retirement, he had a large patio boat constructed, and joyfully entertained his wife, Martha, his son, Allen, his daughter, Francis, and his seven grandchildren on excursions on the water over a period of years. His pranks and adorable sense of humor were a delight to all. His grandchildren called him "Greenie," and we all loved him dearly. He was a skilled woodworker, designing many toys and child-sized vehicles for his grandchildren to enjoy during his hours away from work. Greenie was our hero, the man we looked up to with awe and great love.
