HERMAN "AUGUST" HÄSE, son of Christolph F. Häse and Caroline Backhaus, was born 1-10-1843 in Germany, and died 9-12-1915 in Morrison, Brown County, Wisconsin. Caroline died in Germany, Christolph emigrated with part of the family in 1856. The 1900 census reads August emigrated in 1884 that is incorrect as he married in Wisconsin in 1869. His father was born Gardin, Kreis Regenwalde, Germany.
August married MATHILDE SOPHIE ALBERTINE OLP 1-15-1869 in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, daughter of Johann Friedrich "Ferdinand" Olp and Friederike Dorothea Charlotte Strege from the Cooperstown, Manitowoc, Wisconsin area. She was born 3-06-1850 in probably Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died 6-20-1924 in Morrison, Brown County, Wisconsin. The Olp family emigrated from the Chinnow and Colzow area of Kreis Usedom-Wollin, Pommern in 1849. What is known of the trip length, the family had probably arrived Milwaukee when Mathilde was born.
From the 1980 Morrison, Brown County, Wisconsin anniversary book, "Haese and Co." August ran the (saw) mill until he died, and then (son) Arthur ran it until 1919 when it closed for good (almost immediately after burning to the ground from a lightning strike). Town of Morrison, Section 22 (south of where Way-Mor Park is now). The village of Morrison is in the Town of Morrison.
Tax roll for 1875 shows August's mill as "Albert Haese & Co." (manufacturers of all kinds of hard and soft wood lumber). August had a brother Albert. August also farmed in Morrison.
